Bake With Less Butter

Sometimes, you crave the decadence of cake & want to enjoy it as part of a healthier lifestyle. We’re here to help! If you’re looking to completely replace the butter in your recipe, you should give these 3 alternatives a try!

If you’re looking to lighten up a recipe, we hear that substituting some of the butter with these ingredients will do the trick!

Applesauce
An easy substitution if you already have some in your pantry. Applesauce is great when used in cake-like recipes. Adding this to your baking reduces fat & calories.

You can replace half the amount of butter in the recipe with applesauce, so if a recipe calls for 1 cup of butter – use 1/2 a cup of butter + 1/2 a cup of applesauce.

Greek Yogurt
Full fat, plain greek yogurt can be used to cut the saturated fat content of your baking, as well as reduce calories. You may need to play around with the ratio of butter to yogurt here, to find what works best in a recipe.

You can replace half the amount of butter in the recipe with half the amount in greek yogurt. So for 1 cup of butter in a recipe, use 1/2 cup butter + 1/4 cup greek yogurt.

Avocado
A good for you ingredient, it’s packed with healthy fats that can take the place of butter. Avocado is a great dairy-free option that works best in muffin or cake-like recipes. Bonus – it adds a moist & dense texture to your baking.

You can replace half the amount of butter in the recipe with finely mashed/puréed avocado, so if a recipe calls for 1 cup of butter – use 1/2 a cup of butter + 1/2 a cup of avocado.

We hope that these alternatives show you that taste doesn’t have to be compromised, if you’re wanting to bake a little healthier 🙂
