The Holiday season is a time for (over)indulgence – gifts galore, feasts aplenty & Christmas stockings full of cheer. Maybe you traveled many miles to be with friends & family. Perhaps you spent it in a snowy winter wonderland, bundled up & cosy by a fireplace. We at SoBakeable spent it in San Francisco – getting messy in the kitchen & getting more & more excited for what 2016 holds.
Regardless of where you found yourself this festive season, it’s now time to come home from the holidays. Welcome home to the warm embrace of your hands wrapped around a mug of this hot chocolate. It’s pure chocolatey indulgence & you deserve it!
Do yourself a favor – make this spiced hot chocolate, sink into your couch & savor the cosy warm flavors. Bonus points if you invite a friend over to share the experience, recipe makes 2 servings. Mmmarvelous!
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp + 2 tsp sugar
- big pinch nutmeg
- big pinch cinnamon
- small pinch salt
- ¼ cup hot water
- 1¾ cups milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Boil the water & set aside.
- In a saucepan, add cocoa powder, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon & salt. Slowly pour in the hot water & stir to combine. Bring to a boil & continue to stir for 2 minutes.
- Continue to stir as you add the milk & heat the hot chocolate until just before it starts to boil.
- Remove from the heat & add the vanilla extract.
- Sip, savor & repeat!
If you’re having a luxurious, treat yourself moment – dollop some whipped cream on top & add a light sprinkling of cinnamon. You can use a milk of your choice, but we think almond milk is divine!
